Vast and varied unpaid duties have earned Peter many accolades.

Waihopai life membership came in 1996 after he had served as president in 1980-1984 and 1992-1996, and as club captain (1974-1978) and treasurer (2001-2017).
Chairman of the organising committee for 125th celebrations in 2012, president of the Southland Legion of Rowers for 2010-2013 and heavy involvement with transporting boats and equipment far afield.
A dual winner of the Southland Rowing Administrator of the Year award in 1995 and 2005, he became a life member of the Southland Rowing Association in 2012.
New Zealand Rowing Administrator of the Year at the national body's annual meeting in Hamilton in 2013.
At Southland Rowing Association level, he was the Waihopai club's delegate for 30 years, president of Southland Rowing (2004-2008), treasurer from 2008-2013, delegate to South Island Rowing from 1993-2004 and now again in 2013-2017, also race umpire for over 20 years and a records clerk and selector.
A member of Waihopai RC since 1965, serving an uninterrupted 47 years on the Committee from 1966 while also having three New Zealand lightweight doubles sculling titles with Frank Sullivan in 1980, 1981 and 1983.
Sinclair retired from the Alliance Group production manager for beef processing at Lorneville and Mataura in 2009.
Credit must also go to his wife, Gael, for her tolerance of his voluntary rowing workload. She had supported him greatly as assistant treasurer of Southland Rowing and the Waihopai Club and was also a past secretary of the Southland Rowing Association.
In the last year, Peter has taken on even more organisational tasks around the Waihopai Rowing Club, mending boats, loading trailers, driving them to major regattas as well as continuing to help Southland Rowing transition into a new era.

He continues as the Association’s treasurer, in partnership with his wife, Gael, as part of the Association Executive.
